2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 Engines at a Glance
As we said, you’ve got two choices of engine when you’re outfitting your Silverado 3500 the way you want. The base gasoline engine is a 6.6L V8 gas engine. It’s got 401 hp, 464 lb-ft of torque, and a 6-speed automatic transmission that gives you a maximum of 14,500 pounds of towing capacity. On the other hand, there’s a 6.6L V8 Duramax diesel engine that gives you 445 hp, 910 lb-ft of torque, and a 10-speed automatic transmission with 36,000 pounds of towing capacity. Keep in mind that the diesel engine with all that towing is the next step up in engine options, while the gas engine is the base.

That said, the High Country is only available with limited drivetrains and cabin options, so you should research what exactly is available before committing to this high-tech ride.
