Luckily, we can help with all the above concerns and more at the Aaron Chevrolet service center. That said, let’s get into our guide on Chevy key fob programming now!

Chevy Key Fob Programming: Learn How to Program Yours Now

Follow the simple steps here to program your Chevy remote start key fob or standard Chevy key fob in Lake Elsinore:

  1. Use your actual key (not the remote transponder) to manually unlock the driver’s side door of your vehicle. Some vehicle key fobs with keyless entry systems now have a hidden key inside the remote transponder.
  2. Make sure all vehicle doors are completely closed. Then, put the key into your Chevy ignition, but do not start the vehicle.
  3. Press the unlock button on the driver’s side door panel. Hold it down, then turn your key to the “On” position. Note: your radio and lights should turn on, but your engine should not. If you turn on your engine, start the process over.
  4. Now, turn the key into the “Off” position, then “On” and then back “Off” again (On – Off – On – Off).
  5. Let go of the unlock button.
  6. You should hear your door locks engage and disengage after releasing the unlock button.
  7. On your Chevy key fob, press and hold the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons at the same time until you hear the door locks engage and disengage one more time.
  8. Congratulations. If you hear the locks engage and disengage while performing step 7, then you’ve managed to program your Chevy key fob successfully!
  9. Put the newly-programmed key back into the ignition in the “On” position and programming will be officially over.

No matter if you have a Chevy Silverado key fob or Chevy Malibu key fob that needs programming, you should be able to follow the above steps to program your key fob the right way! Still have questions? Call (951) 674-3116!
